A successful enumerators training for mini-census

A group of young enumerators in Vanuatu have completed a training on techniques in data collection, conducted by South Pacific Communities.

A mini-census data collection is set to begin by of this year in Vanuatu with every household to be counted.

Radion New Zealand reports the government says the exercise, which it expects to finish by December, can help establish a new listing of households following Cyclone PAM last year.

The Vanuatu National Statistics Office, Simil Johnson, says they wish to engage all civil society as early as possible to help them inform the public about the process.

“Every household in Vanuatu needs to know these trained enumerators will visit them”, he said.

A full census with more in-depth questioning is planned for 2019, fitting in with Vanuatu’s normal 10 year cycle.
