Australian Foreign Affairs Minister to visit the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu

Marise Payne the Australian Foreign Affairs Minister will visit the Solomon Islands on 30 October and Vanuatu from 31 October to 1 November to progress key initiatives under Australia’s Pacific Step-up and reaffirm Australia’s longstanding partnerships with both countries.

Payne’s visits will provide an opportunity to reiterate Australia’s commitment to supporting security, stability, and prosperity in the Pacific.

Payne will be meeting with both Prime Minister Sogavare and Prime Minister Salwai.

In her press release, Payne says ‘I look forward to deepening Australia’s engagement as we discuss our strong collaboration on infrastructure, labor mobility, and joint security projects.

Mrs. Payne will also engage in women’s policy issues across government and the private sector, particularly to discuss women’s economic security and the safety of women and their families, two important focuses of gender equality engagement in the region.
