Bid to build exports

With their strong alcoholic beverage portfolio in Pacific markets, Paradise Beverages is looking to build their exports to major international markets such as China and US.

Speaking at their 60th anniversary celebrations last Saturday, company general manager Mike Spencer highlighted their focus particularly on international markets such as China and the US.

“We’ve invested heavily mainly for Fiji but also for the international market.”

“We have signed 200,000 case beer deal for China and we are about to go into the US with our Rum Co of Fiji range,” he said.

Mr Spencer said since the company was acquired under new owners Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji Ltd in 2012, the company commenced on a significant $50 million capital investment program further boosting their production and beverage portfolio.

“Since 2012, we’ve invested $50m and we’ve put in a new brewery, we’ve put in a new packaging line, can line and bottle line,” he said.

“This is not due to the equipment we have, nor the $50m capital investment we have made, our secret to success is simple.

“It is our people, our people are innovative, the are proud, they are passionate, they work hard and lay hard.

“They have made Paradise Beverage what it is today and I am so very proud to be a part of it.”

The public listed company also acquired the drink Vonu from Islands Brewing Company in 2014, a lucrative investment which consolidated their product portfolio across the region.

According to Paradise Beverages head of marketing and product development Rowena Taito, the company launched more than 10 new products over the years.

“We have started exporting to China and started with our Chinese labelling,” she told this newspaper in an interview.

“We export to our other brewery in Samoa, Vailima, we also export to Australia and New Zealand, small volumes to Vanuatu, Tonga, but generally largest export market is Australia.”

With two brewery sites in Lautoka and Suva, the company produces and manufactures internationally renowned beers, ready-to-drink products (RTDs) and spirits.

These include Fiji Bitter, Fiji Gold, Fiji Premium, Vonu Beer, Tribe Range, Joskes Brew, Bounty Rum n Cola, Bounty, Rum Co Fiji, Katia Tripple Distilled Vodka, Regal Whiskey and Gin.
