The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Co-operation ACP-EU (CTA) and partner organisation are running Web 2.0 and Social Media training in Port Vila and Luganville this week.
The new online technologies will enable people to collaborate to create, share and publish information and CTA has a mandate to facilitate access to and dissemination of information in the fields of agriculture and rural development in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP).

Similar training was conducted last year in Port Vila with partners – the Department of Forests (DoF) within the Ministry for Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC).
Megan Singleton, award-winning travel writer, blogger, editor and NZ Herald travel columnist is one of the trainers arriving this week in Vanuatu to conduct the training to organizations that can improve information sharing with their stakeholders.
Around 75% of the population reside in Vanuatu’s rural areas and depend on agriculture for their livelihood according to MALFFB and accounts for around 15% of the GDP, and associating the sector with technology is crucial in bridging the divide and also gives a new perspective to farmers.
The activity also coincides with ICT week celebrations happening in the country this week, where Vanuatu and Pacific will regroup for Pacific ICT Day and conference, hosted at Warwick Le Lagon Resort.
