The Department of Water Resources (DoWR), representing the Government of Vanuatu and UNELCO Engie have received eight Pacific Water and Wastewater Association (PWWA) awards this year.
The DoWR was awarded the Best Utility Overall in the Pacific, Best Coverage, Best Cost Recovery, Best Technical Performance, Best Most Improved Water Utility, Best Utility in Group and runner-up of Best Customer Service.

Vanuatu was also been recognized with a Healthy Islands Award through a project run by the Ministry of Health in supporting communities to improve water, sanitation and hygiene through community grants.
Health Minister Jack Norris received the award at 13th Pacific Health Ministers Meeting last month in French Polynesia.
The health impacts of a changing climate were a focus of last week’s 13th #PHMM2019, with ministers acknowledging the ‘climate crisis’, and endorsing a roadmap to address climate-related threats to safe drinking water, sufficient food, & more.https://t.co/MDS9lVlyfG
