The AFL South Pacific Oceania Cup is a key step in the pathway of the AFL development system.
From this carnival a team of players from the South Pacific will be selected to play in the Queensland Under 16 Championships in early 2018, where they will play in front of AFL selectors from all 18 clubs who are scouting for the next crop of talented young men to become full time professional AFL players.

These games will be played in front of selectrors from all 18 AFL clubs who are looking for the next crop of talented young men to become full time professional AFL players.
For the first time since 2014 AFL Vanuatu are participating as Vanuatu Volcanoes, in Suva, from December 4 to 8, 2017.
