Today 16th is Day 2 of the national ICT day celebration in Luganville Santo.

This year marks the 4th edition of ICT day and also first ever ICT day organised in Luganville, with the theme ‘Drivers to Innovation’ and also coincides with the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day and International Telecommunication Union’s 150 years anniversary

A parade lead by Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF) starts the day yesterday from Unity Shell area to Luganville’s La Place park with flair.

Among the invited guests were Honorable MP Kalfau Moli, Honorable MP Alfred Maoh, Sanma Province Secretary General Mr. Sakariah Daniel, Anglican Bishop Mr. James Ligo and Port Vila Town Municipality Clerk, Mr. Toko Mara.

Mr. Daniel welcomes the participants and booth holders to Sanma’s shores and Bishop Ligo sealed it with an opening prayer before Honorable MP Maoh and Mp Moli addressed the people reflecting on technology in the past and how it has changed and becomes vital for our survival.

After their booth tours, discussion panels kicked off stage, with music entertainment, Quiz and prizes, and booth showcase, highlighting the event.

Many people came to interact with the event and listen to discussions – very educational for students and teachers, people in workforce, and the number is expected to increase today.

Panel sessions focused on ICT in Education, Tourism, Agriculture, Youth and Health, and open discussion on ICT application in disasters – TC Pam, climate change, ports and harbour, ICT operators and more discussions will continue today.

Today’s sessions, panelists will discuss how ICT could be utilized to promote youth and disability and also towards healthy living, and marks a moment of business for Telecom Vanuatu as they launched their new fiber optic link in Luganville.
