South Efate based club Ifira Black Bird football club has won the Port Vila Football Association’s Digicel Premiere League title, after 31 years.
The win is historical for Ifira and proves locally based clubs are rising and dominating football in South Efate where Port Vila league and the Vanuatu’s strongest league is hosted.
Last 2016/17 season, Erakor Golden Star football club claimed the title of the Port Vila championship, but this season, the win has shifted out to their neighbors from the island of Ifira Tenuku.
The essence of Ifira’s success is only possible through better management of the club in recent years, and through Ifira based companies and the tenuku’s business minded people who have stepped in to support the club.
Recently the club has imported several Solomon Island players and signed the Pacific legend and well known Solomon Islander, coach Batram Suri, who was in Amicale FC in recent years.

“Our next focus is the Top Four Competition to find the winner to represent Port Vila in the OFC Champions League in 2018″, coach Batram.
The win also has seen FIFA President Gianni Infantino sends his congratulatory message to the club for their win.
“The title is the result of determination of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players, the coach, the administration and the entire technical and medical staff as well as fans for the achievement”, Infantino stated in his letter.
It is always one of the many FIFA’s objective for its member associations and those involved to share the positive message of football.

The newly elected FIFA President, since he took office, never miss to relate his interest by praising Vanuatu football when he did the same last season to EGS after winning the PVFA title.
