The Ifira Blackbirds are the Championships of Rugby League of Port Vila in 2017 after defeating Port Vila Powerhouse in the Grand final of the tournament over the weekend.
The Blackbirds defeated Pango King Sharks 34-18 before they went into Saturday’s game against a more strong Powerhouse outfit.

In the game, the two teams put themselves in the lead in a fast and physical game, which actually saw one of Blackbird’s players got a red.
Despite of being down on a player, Ifira managed to lead the Powerhouse 12 – 6 and defended their lead until halftime.
In the second half, the Blackbirds began to dominate, in four attempts at one in the second half to win their first championship of the Port Vila Rugby League Cup.
