Malampa Revivors became the first club outside Port Vila to qualify to play in a TVL National Super League final after they beat Port Vila club, Ifira Black Bird 2-1 in the semifinal last Wednesday.
Malampa will take on Vanuatu giant club Amicale FC in the final on Saturday and the winner will represent Vanuatu in the OFC Champions League in 2016.
Malampa has shown to the fans that football in the islands is coming up and this is a good sign that football is developing well in the eight member associations.
FIFA, OFC and VFF has given a lot of financially support to develop football in the islands after the decentralization program that was launched by VFF President, Mr. Lambert Maltock few months ago and today we can see the result.
Malampa captain John Alick said after their victory over Port Vila side, Ifira Black Bird on Wednesday that they have to work extra hard to beat a team with foreign players.
“To play and win against Port Vila clubs like Ifira Black Bird FC is not always easy.” Said John Alick, Malampa Revivors FC captain.
“We played with ten players against them in the second half after referee sent off our defender and to be honest it’s very hard to stop them because they keep on coming against us.”
“I told my players to keep working hard even we are one man down.”
“I want to salute my players for the victory and we are now looking forward to meet Amicale in the final on Saturday.”
“Amicale is a great team and we will try our best to play well against a good Vanuatu club with more foreign players.” He concluded.
