Opposition questions granting of bus license to Chinese

The Office of the Opposition questions the issuance of a bus license to a Chinese national who owns a shop in town and who is reported to have employed a local to drive his bus on tourism tours.

The Office of the opposition is questioning the Internal Affairs on the license and is concerned “such actions by the Ministry directly threaten the local transport industry”.

The Office of the Opposition is calling for “an investigation to reveal who has issued a license for a tour business to the Chinese.”

The Minister of Internal Affairs has already through a Ministerial order ceased the issuance of permits and not licenses for local transport services, however, it is understood, permits for tourism tours are open.

The Office of the Opposition is calling on “the Shefa Land Transport Association and the Public Land Transport Association to look into the irregularities which directly threaten a business reserved, intended and protected by law for locals only.”
