PNG road holdup continues

A tragic holdup yesterday Monday 05th October 2020 around 3pm between Mt. Wamarau and Monintin Village, border of East and West Sepik in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Two men shot dead in the head at point blank, while the other two are fighting for their lives at Drekikier Hospital and others sustained injuries.
Sources said two died are from Fifteen Corner(15C) and Yamari village both are from Yangkok LLG, Nuku District, and passengers are roped off all their belongings.

People from Nuku,Yangkok and Lumi are advised to take extra care when travelling to Maprik, as it seems holdup has been continuing in the last 4 weeks.

On May 18, 2020, five men have died in a shootout with Papua New Guinea police near Madang after they tried to hold up a bus police officers were travelling inside.

PNG is well known for holdups as featured on ABC News in 2017 when an Australian family driving down a narrow road in Papua New Guinea was blocked by a car and chased by thugs armed with guns and bats.
