Pacific Organic and Ethical Trade Community has registered 1,000 farmer from Vanuatu recently as certified organic growers.
Radio New Zealand website reports, Theresa Fox from Pacific Organic and Ethical Trade Community, or POETCOM, said Vanuatu promoted the initiative of going organic and produced organic agricultural products.

The biggest number of certified farmers come from Tanna Coffee using 700 organically certified growers and the others come from Epi, Efate, Malekula and Santo.

Ms Fox said POETCOM, which began with only five member countries spearheaded by Vanuatu, now had thousands of farmers spread across 44 Pacific island countries.
She said to become an organically certified farmer, one must meet strict Pacific Organic Standard Guidelines.
