The rehabilitation of Port Vila’s sea front and Fatumaru Bay has not only lifted the look of the city but given its people a place to come and enjoy with their family and friends.
The children’s playground rings with the sound of happy children having fun, the walkway is full of people strolling and young people on skateboards, the sea steps have multitudes of energetic pikinini laughing, splashing and diving, and contented locals or all ages are sitting enjoying the park and catching up on the latest news in Port Vila.
A family who frequents the park told High Commission staff that the waterfront is now “a place that families can enjoy together.”
The New Zealand Government provided VT1.1 billion for the completion of this project. The total project cost is over VT1.39 billion.
