Day eight of the Port Vila Football Association (PVFA) UNELCO Engie U12 Championship on Wednesday this week saw over 200 kids swarming the Port Vila Stadium to rally behind their team.
The first match of the day saw Kawenu School coming out as eventual winners, thanks to a 2-1 win over Central Galaxy.
In the second match of the day, Vila Seventh Day Adventist School recording a 2-1 win over Capital City.
The final match of the day, Tupuji Imere commanding a 4-2 win over Erakor Golden Star.
Day eight continues this Friday, 17th September with Mauwia taking on Vila North School.
UNELCO Engie U12 Championship is proudly sponsored by UNELCO Engie company, and as of today has 144 registered kids playing in 9 different clubs in this year’s championship.
“We are ready to kick-off also the U15 championship this weekend, but it seems that we will postpone it, as there are still some loose ends we need to tie,” PVFA Competition Manager, Moise Poida said.
“From the U12 and U15 Championship, this year it will be an introduction, and after that, we will look to implement the championship into the schools Physical Education calendar in and around Port Vila, and hopefully structure it in a way that only licensed players will be eligible to play.
“This will force the schools to select the best players only to play for their team,” Poida said.
