URGENT CONSTITUTIONAL APPLICATION LODGED AGAINST THE SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT

An Urgent Constitutional Application has been lodged against the Speaker of Parliament as the first respondent and The Republic of Vanuatu as the second Respondent.

The Constitutional Application brought under Article 6, Article 52 (1) (2) and Article 54 of the Constitution seek to challenge the decision of the first respondent in declaring the seat of Parliament for Malekula held by Gracia Shedrack, Vacant.

The Constitutional Application also seeks to justify that the actions taken by the first and second respondents has infringed and violated the rights of the applicant.

AN Urgent Interim Application for a stay order was also sought by the applicant for this matter.
