The two international friendly between Vanuatu and Fiji ended with a 2-1 victory to host in match 2 yesterday afternoon at Port Vila stadium.

Last weekend in match one, Kensi Tangis opened the score ten minutes into the game and quickly Fiji coach Frank Farina switched Vodafone’s strategy cutting out Tangis and Vanuatu strikers before Abbu Zahid leveled the score in 96 minutes, added time advantage.

Match two yesterday is sanctioned by FIFA and is important for the two nation’s FIFA ranking, which got Fijian Wellington Phoenix star Roy Krishna flown in to captain Fiji side.

Frank Farina, hailed from A-League and a successor to Fiji former coach Carlos Buzzetti came tight with Fiji in the kickoff but his defense could not control Vanuatu’s attack resulted in a penalty which Brian Kaltak shoots past Ben Aminio to give Vanuatu the lead in twenty three minutes.

While Fiji defense is focusing on Tangis, Bong Kalo feeds Bill Nichols with a superb left work he puts the ball behind Aminio again to give the 2-0 lead two minutes before half time.

After the break Fiji came strong and the yellow’s defense were caught off guard when Krishna puts one behind Seloni Iaruel just 2 minutes in the game.

Fijian captain Krishna worked really hard for Fiji side and was a man of the match but his second goal was denied for hand handling and is a yellow card offense, according to Vanuatu referee Robinson Banga.

Tangis and Vanuatu’s midfielder Fenedy Masaufakalo in situations were exchanging touch to jumbled Fiji defense but each time Fenedy is caught offside.

In the end, Vanuatu managed to hold the visitors to seal the win.
