Vanuatu club champions, Galaxy FC booked themselves a semi final spot over the weekend after the Independence Cup semi final match between themselves and Premier Division new comers next season, Shepherds United went into penalty shootouts.
After 90 minutes the score was still tied at 0-0. Both teams had chances to put the ball into the net but failed to capitalize.
Shepherds United keeper, Eric Bong denied Roberson Felipe, Galaxy FC Brazilian import player during the penalty shootout, but it was Galaxy FC keeper, Joshua Willie who was the hero of the day, after he saved two2 penalties, and booked Galaxy FC a spot in the grand final this weekend against Tafea FC.
Tafea FC had to work hard themselves to book a spot in the grand final after a 2-1 win over second division’s Academy FC.
Willie is a current Vanuatu international, with stints from U17, U19, national team and has had experience playing in the OFC Champions League with Galaxy FC.
